I would like to share what I am learning about using natural materials within the context of my own work. So during the course of the Fruit Saloon exhibition I will be offering a free workshop on Friday the 13th of April to share some of what I’ve learned about natural pigments and to create a space for discussion around this subject, an opportunity to explore making natural paints and to have a go at painting with them.
This workshop will coincide with Fruit Saloon exhibition, where i have been looking at natural ingredients for inspiration. So it makes perfect sense that the workshop will involve using natural materials that are easily available in the UK and 100% plant based.
The emphasis is very much on experimentation and a playful use of plant based media. The workshop will provide an opportunity for anyone interested in learning about making their own natural paints.
No prior knowledge or experience required – only enthusiasm, curiosity and a willingness to experiment with natural materials. Please note this workshop is for Adults.
What is included in the workshop:
- Explanation and demonstration of making simple natural paints using foraged or natural materials that are easily available in the UK and suited to making at home.
- An opportunity to have a go at making your own paint and to test these within a small painting.
- A goody bag to take home including 4 colours, plant based binder, recipe cards and ecological paper.
- Basic painting materials will be provided for the workshop.
